What we have is a kit that eliminates all the under hood factory brake lines, master cylinder and the brake booster. These parts are replaced with a new manual brake master cylinder and high nickel brake lines. This really cleans up the engine bay as it tucks the master cylinder back against the firewall and allows you to eliminate the ABS if you like and re-route all the lines.
Here is a little more information of what brought this kit to life....
This kit was originally designed and is still used on David Buschur's BAD BISH ('04 Evo 8 RS). David decided that once he upgraded to some real brake pads that the car which came factory with no ABS was actually dangerous in an emergency stopping situation due to the brakes instantly locking up making the vehicle hard to control. Something needed to be done.
It was decided rather than getting rid of the new found braking power the car had we would figure out a way to delete the power brakes. This also in turn would clean up the engine bay of the Evo.
The step that was tried was just deleting the brake booster, keeping the factory RS master. This left an extremely hard brake pedal and no braking, the car would stop but it was scary to drive. It also required excessive force to apply the needed pressure.
After some research a direct replacement master cylinder was found with the correct specs so the car would actually stop.
The kit includes:
The brake line material is a high nickel line, you can not kink it (well I suppose if you really tried you could but it's pretty idiot proof) and it easily bends with just your fingers. It will not rust or discolor. You will need a bubble flare tool for 3/16" line. The line not only bends easy but flares really nice too.
The master cylinder is a direct replacement. The brake switch light plugs in and you will still be able to attach your clutch master cylinder with the factory hose to the brake master.
